7 Steps to Turn Your Dreams Into Reality
One of the great minds of late was Zig Ziglar. His commonsense approach to business and life has helped many people create immense success by turning their wishes into reality. We all have dreams and this blog actively encourages dreaming. But more important this blog encourages acting on your dreams. The following seven steps to achieving a goal were created by Zig Ziglar and told in this video. Read them below and turn your dreams into reality.
1. What is Your Goal?
Write down your goal. Simple enough. Just do it. Grab your pen, paper, laptop, or whatever you have with you right now and write down a goal. Form doesn’t matter, writing it down does.
2. When is the Deadline?
How long do you think it will take you to achieve your goal? Pick a date and write it down.
3. What are the Obstacles?
Brainstorm all the obstacles that you think will get in the way of achieving this goal. List them out, every last one.
4. Who Do You Need to Know?
Zig likes to say, “list all the people, groups, and organizations that you can or will work with to achieve your goal.” These are your support groups.
5. What’s In It For You?
What are the benefits? Brainstorm every reason you can think of for why you will benefit from achieving this goal. Take your time. Make the list count. This is your motivation and your fuel.
6. What Do You Need to Know?
What are the all the skills and knowledge you see yourself needing to acquire to achieve your goal? Think of as many as you can. If you can’t think of any, great! That is OK too!
7. What Is The Plan?
What is your plan of action to make your goal a reality? This can be a calendar of events, a to-do list, a gantt chart of any tool that works well for you to stay organized with what you need to do. For me this is an excel document listing the categories of projects, the urgency, and the tasks. The key is your plan helps you work on your goal not just on building a plan.
Like most things worthwhile, they seem easy enough, but it is those who have he discipline to follow through that end up successful in the end. You are one of those people now get to it and turn your dreams into reality!
